Thoubal, October 05 2021: If we are to protect the wildlifes of the State, giving firearms license in the hill should be stopped immediately.

Range Forest Office Naorem Munal Meitei said this while attending the 66th Wildlife Week at Tangjeng Khunjao community hall organised by Thoubal Forest Division in collaboration with Kakching Range.

Naorem Munal Meitei added that defforestation aided by unregulated killing of wildlifes have served as the main reasons behind the ever decreasing number of wildlife in their natural habitats.

He pressed the issue of the need to stop giving license for guns in hill villages and also for protection of forest areas which are the natural habitats of rich fauna of the State.

He added that humans cannot exist alone without the diverse wildlife and protection of them is our duty.
