Union minister Tomar visits ICAR Research Complex

Imphal, October 04 2021: Union minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Narendra Singh Tomar paid a visit to ICAR, Research Complex for NEH Region on Monday.

He was accompanied by Meghalaya minister of Agriculture and Farmers' Welfare Banteidor Lyngdoh.

The two ministers planted tree saplings at the institute's premises along with CAU vice chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra, ICAR director Dr VK Mishra and employees.

While addressing the gathering, Tomar said that the temporary status employees (TSM), who have recently got permanent status, is because of the efforts put in by the central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

He encouraged the staff and scientific community of the institute to work hard and make continuous efforts to take the institute to new heights.

Prio to his arrival here, Narendra Tomar also visited College of PG Studies in Agricultural Sciences at Central Agricultural University (CAU), Barapani in Meghalaya.

The minister was accompanied by Meghalaya Agriculture minister and University chancellor Dr Anupam Mishra, Around 13 colleges affiliated to the university along with 6 Krishi Vigyan Centres and also attended, while College of Agriculture, CAU, Imphal participated from its incubation centre via video conference.

During the visit, Minister Tomar urged scientists and farmers of the north eastern region to utilise available resources to help the region become self sustainable, while assuring to approve potential proposals put forward by the College through the state government.
