Governor expresses concern on burning of Kheba forest

IMPHAL | Apr 5 : Governor of Manipur, Najma Heptulla has expressed her deep concerned on learning about the burning of forest on Kheba hill, Thoubal district. A release by governor’s secretariat, Raj Bhavan has said that Manipur is blessed with rich bio-diversity and its protection is everyone’s responsibility. The governor has felt unhappy at the unfortunate incident and expressed her worry on how the forest got fire making a major untimely loss of the people, it added. Heptulla has stated in the release that forests are national wealth and they belong to everyone. She also appealed to plant more trees apart from protecting the forests. The governor has further expressed that the need of the hour is to live in harmony with nature and also wished to use traditional practices and indigenous idea for protection of the natural wealth, said the release.
