Volunteers hold dustbins during awareness campaign on environment
TAMENGLONG | Jun 28 : A one-day awareness campaign on environment, health and sanitation was held at Community Hall Namkaolong village, organised by Namkaolong Youth Club in collaboration with Forest department, Health and Family department and PHED. Namkaolong (Keikao) village is under Tamenglong police station, located 29 km away from district headquarters. Chief medical officer, Dr.ChamboGonmei, assistant engineer of PHED, Ajin Thaimei and range forest officer, Kh. Hitler spoke as resource persons in the awareness programme. Dr.ChamboGonmei said that to live a happy life once need to live with bigger heart and find out ways and means to live happy. He further mentioned that Namkaolong village is junction for five, six villages and proposal has been made to put primary health sub-centre in the village and it is in the pipeline to execute the work very soon. Kh. Hitler urged the villagers not to burn the forest. God made beautiful natural things and it should not be destroyed. To protect flora and fauna, government would provide scheme for the village, he added. Ajin Thaimei also spoke on water conservation and sanitation. He explained on power point presentation and urged all to think on how to conserve water and live neat and clean. Chairman of Namkaolong Village Authority, Zeiringkhon Kamei declared Namkaolong village as ‘Open Defecation Free’ and appealed the government to drop development package in the interest of the general public.
