Science of Ayurveda stressed on its day

Imphal, November 02 2021: State AYUSH Society and Directorate of AYUSH jointly observed the 6th Ayurveda Day on the theme "Ayurveda for Poshan" at the hall of Indian Medical Association (IMA) Lamphelpat, today.

At the observance, AYUSH Director Dr A Guneshwor Sharma stated that ayurvedic medicine developed in India about 3,000 years back is perceived as one of the most ancient and well documented systems of medicine.

Saying that Ayurveda means science of life, Dr Guneshwor apprised that Ayurveda Day is being observed to remember its founder Dhanvantari.

He further stated that the State too has started focusing on local medicinal plants, herbal medicine with Chief Minister N Biren Singh striving to promote AYUSH.

Continuing that AYUSH doctors are also at the forefront in the combat against COVID-19, Dr A Guneshwor stressed on the role Ayurveda can play in improving the economic condition of the people.

He further stated that the longevity of the people can be increased if the Ayurvedic system is adopted to prevent lifestyle diseases.

AYUSH Additional Director Dr M Shyamjai Singh; former Director Dr Y Lukhoi; State AYUSH Officer Dr L Promila Devi also attended the programme among others.

Ayurveda Doctors Association of Manipur (ADAM) also observed the day at Naoremthong.

As a part of the programme, a free health camp was also held.

At the function, retd IAS officer K Radhakumar spoke on the need to keep one's mind healthy to stay fit and active.

He lauded ADAM for observing the day to raise awareness on the effectiveness of Ayurveda.

Former Family Welfare Director Dr P Shyamsunder Singh and Nodal Officer (AYUSH) NHM Dr K Benedict also attended the programme.
